PITTSBURGH, PA – “Family Day” at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events broke records, with over 26,000 participants. MOVERS of all ages participated in five events, including the UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K, U. S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile, Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot, and Pittsburgh Pet Walk.

“We continue to see incredible growth during race weekend, especially among our youngest participants,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “From record-breaking kids marathon participation to multiple sold-out events on Family Day, it’s clear that families are embracing the opportunity to be active together and support one another.”

A record 6,000+ crossed the finish line in the UPMC Health Plan / UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K. Click here for a complete list of 5K results, including the top finishers listed below.

Pittsburgh native Julian Paul, 22, led the men’s field with a time of 15:23, followed by two-time champion Andrew Zentgraf, 29, crossing the finish line at 15:45 and Ryan Leahy, 32, of Washington D.C. in 15:46 to round out the highly competitive podium.

In the women’s division, Pittsburgher Jennifer Kobin, 29, claimed first place with a time of 18:54. She was followed by Camryn Bruno, a 15-year-old standout who improved upon her third-place finish in 2025, to take second in 19:19, and Ann Cook, 37, of Columbus, Ohio, who secured third in 19:32.

More than 800 participants crossed the finish line in the U. S. Steel Pittsburgh Champions Mile. This untimed event welcomes everyone to join in a celebration of joy, supporting families and friends living with disabilities. This race not only enables participants of all abilities to run, walk, stroll, or roll through the vibrant streets of Pittsburgh. It also gives them an opportunity to contribute to meaningful causes that make a positive impact on the community.

The one-mile Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon drew more than 18,500 kids and their parents and guardians. Pittsburgh Steeler Kenanu Benton–along with mascots such as Steely McBeam from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pirate Parrot, Duo from Duolingo, Smiley from Eat’n Park, Chick-fil-A cows, and the brand new Cape Kid from Kids of STEEL–were on hand to motivate the kids at the start line.

Many of these kids celebrated their “final mile” of the Kids of STEEL program, which is currently in more than 360 schools and organizations throughout western Pennsylvania. During the program, participants are challenged to move the equivalent of 25.2 miles of physical activity, and then they complete the last mile of their “marathon” with this morning’s event.

The Sheetz Pittsburgh Toddler Trot, held at the Finish Line Festival powered by Cleveland Brothers in Point State Park, was also a place of pure joy and laughter. More than 800 toddlers, ages nine months to four-years-old, participated in their first race alongside their parents to earn their first medal.

Later at the Festival, the Pittsburgh Pet Walk ended the day on a high note, as 187 humans and their four-legged best friends covered a one-mile course in Point State Park. The walk raised a total of $5,070 to benefit Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, one of Pennsylvania’s largest nonprofit organizations dedicated to the welfare of animals, pet owners, and the community.
