P3R, the engine behind the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, is seeking a part-time Accountant. In this role, you will report to the CFO. We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Part-Time Accountant with
expertise in payroll management to support the financial operations of our non-profit organization. Primarily an in-office role, the Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, processing payroll, and
assisting with compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and payroll skills while also being aligned with our mission and values.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Payroll Management:
o Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
o Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
2. Accounting and Financial Reporting:
o Prepare and record journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
o Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
o Support the Chief Financial Officer in reconciling bank statements, reviewing accounts, and managing budgets.
3. Compliance and Audits:
o Support the organization in maintaining compliance with non-profit financial regulations.
o Assist with annual audits and prepare necessary documentation.
o Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
4. Administrative Support:
o Maintain organized and secure financial records, both digital and physical.
o Assist with onboarding new employees in payroll systems and benefit enrollment.
o Provide other financial and administrative support as needed.
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
● Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience including experience in payroll processing, accounts payable and invoicing.
● Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and payroll systems (e.g., ADP).
● Strong understanding of payroll regulations.
● Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
● Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
● Strong commitment to the mission of non-profit work.
● Team-oriented and eager to assist colleagues whenever needed.
● Passion for the mission of P3R.
● Exceptional customer service skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

ABOUT P3R
Best known for organizing the acclaimed annual DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, P3R also organizes a variety of other high-quality races, training runs, and health & fitness programs throughout the Pittsburgh region, including the award-winning Kids of STEEL program and RUN Varsity events.
INTERNSHIP DUTIES/STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Youth Programming Department in serving all participants age 18 and under. Duties may include:
- Attend camps, practices and special events with P3R staff
- Lead workouts and activities at programming sites and community events
- Share knowledge by drafting content for blogs, social media, and newsletters Work collaboratively with the video team on shoots and productions.
- Execute outreach by assisting with new Kids of STEEL site recruitment
- Assist with volunteer recruitment
- Creating marketing materials to promote events and advance the mission of P3R
- Assist with P3R events including but not limited to: America’s Mile, RUN Varsity Summer Run Series, UPMC Run Clinic, Youth TRACK Day, and planning for the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race and FlyBy5K
- Creating content and videos for Kids of STEEL socials and website
- Monitoring & researching best practices to stay ahead of trends
REQUIREMENTS
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Passion for mission of P3R
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible scheduling including several evenings or weekend dates
- Ability to instruct others in physical activity
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Background Clearance
- Reliable mode of transportation to and from events
