P3R, the organizer of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events, is seeking a marketing and communications intern for spring 2026.
About P3R:
P3R is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a love of running and increasing community access to health and fitness education and activities. Best known for organizing the annual DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, we also manage a variety of other high-quality races, events, and health and fitness programs throughout the Pittsburgh region. While many of our races attract top professional athletes, we offer activities that welcome individuals of all ages and ability levels. In this role, you will report to the Marketing Content Coordinator and collaborate with our communications team, which includes both marketing and public relations functions. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, advertising, and/or public relations. Recent graduates will also find this opportunity valuable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned project from start to finish.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content for social media channels.
- Engage with target audiences via social media.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with the communications team and the broader organization.
- Assist in maintaining P3R websites.
- Assist in drafting and designing email marketing assets for the marathon and related events.
- Brainstorm marketing campaigns and assist with partnership deliverables.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Full availability during the 2026 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events (Friday, May 1; Saturday, May 2; Sunday, May 3, 2026).
- Availability to work 10-15 hours per week from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
- Currently enrolled local college student or recent graduate.
- Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends to assist with other events as needed (dates flexible and negotiable).
- Familiarity with social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok) and monitoring tools (such as HubSpot or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experienced graphic design knowledge (experience using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or similar tools).
- Creative thinking ability.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.

P3R, is the engine behind the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, is seeking a Brand Partnerships & Marketing Intern for spring 2026. In this role, you will report to the Director of Sales & Partnerships and collaborate closely with our Partnerships Team to support both partnership and marketing initiatives. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, sports management, retail management, or related fields.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Research and analyze data on potential partners.
- Collaborate on innovative ideas for potential partnerships with P3R.
- Support the partnership team in creating and managing deliverable sheets.
- Assist in managing partner activations on race day.
- Oversee assigned projects from start to finish.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with the Partnerships Team and the broader organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Currently enrolled college student or recent graduate.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends as needed for events (dates flexible and negotiable).
- Familiarity with social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Instagram) and social media monitoring tools (such as Hubspot or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license is required.

- Experience in event and project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), including public speaking. Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.

- Proficiency in MS Office and Canva

Compensation:
- Interns will be paid an hourly rate and will work an average of 15 to 20 hours per week, depending on schedules and events.

In this role, you will report to P3R’s Video Producer and collaborate on video projects that support our events, runners, and brand storytelling. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing film, video production, multimedia, communications, sports broadcasting, or related fields who want hands-on experience in editing, shooting, and creating engaging visual content.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned video project from concept to final delivery.
- Edit video content for social media, web, and promotional campaigns.
- Apply color grading and sound design to maintain brand quality.
- Assist with video shoots, including camera operation, lighting, and audio setup.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to produce engaging video content that supports event promotion.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for video storytelling and creative direction.
- Organize and maintain video files, footage, and project archives.
- Perform other video production tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Full availability during the 2026 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events (Friday, May 1; Saturday, May 2; Sunday, May 3, 2026).
- Availability to work 10–20 hours per week from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday (unless otherwise scheduled around events)
- Currently enrolled student or recent graduate in video production, film, communications, or a related field.
- Familiarity with video editing software (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating virtually.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with basic motion graphics or graphic design (Canva, After Effects, Fusion, Photoshop, or similar).
- Knowledge of camera gear and video production best practices.
- Familiarity with audio editing/mixing (Audition, Fairlight, or similar)
- Creative thinking and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Interest in sports, health, and fitness storytelling
