Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash

Lace up your sneakers, put on your green, and get ready to MOVE! P3R is excited to unveil the inaugural Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash Presented by GNC, a vibrant and family-friendly celebration happening on March 15, just before the start of Pittsburgh’s iconic America’s Grand St. Patrick’s Day Event!

This event will feature a 5K and a 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk that will start near the parade route and follow a scenic route through downtown Pittsburgh. Participants will receive a limited edition hoodie ($49.99 value!), finisher medal and bib included in their registration for both timed events.

Can’t make it to the Steel City on Parade Day, but still want to participate and get your hands on these finisher items? We are offering a virtual registration option to show off your Parade Day pride from anywhere!

What are the distances and start times for this event?

  • The 5K race will begin at 8:30am 
  • The 1 Mile Family Fun Run  will begin at 8:45am

What does my registration include?

  • You will receive a limited edition hoodie ($49.99 value), finisher medal and race bib. The 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run will be timed. 

Are strollers permitted?

  • Strollers and baby joggers are only permitted in the 1 Mile Family Fun Run. Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, roller skates and rollerblades are not permitted on the course at any time. 

Are dogs permitted?

  • Dogs are only permitted in the 1 Mile Family Fun Run course. If you have a service animal, you may participate in the 5K and 1 Mile event. Please contact info@p3r.org for approval.

What is the course map?

  • Course map information will be released at a later date. 

Is there a virtual option? 

  • Yes! When you register for the event, you can select the virtual option. We will mail all of your items to you after the event.

When is packet pickup?

  • Packet pickup information will be released at a later date. 

What is the course pace limit?

  • The course pace limit is 20 minutes/mile for all events.

Where can I park?

  • You can use the PARKPGH app to see which parking garages/lots in the area have spaces available. 

Will roads be closed?

  • Road closure information will be released at a later date. 

Are there awards?

How do I track participants on the course?

Is there food and allergen information available?

  • The only items that will be handed out during the event are bananas and water. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please plan accordingly. Your safety and enjoyment are our priority!

Is there an age minimum requirement?

  • There is no minimum age for the 5K and the 1 Mile events.

When will virtual participants receive their race items?

  • If registered by March 2, 2025 we anticipate delivery of your race items prior to race day. Anyone registered after March 2, 2025 will have an anticipated delivery the week of March 24, 2025.

Can I purchase a refundable registration or defer my registration?

  • We are unable to provide refunds for registration fees or defer registrations. You do have the option to purchase event insurance from a third party during the registration process, which can safeguard your fees in certain situations. Moreover, if your plans change and you find yourself unable to participate on race weekend after registering, you do have the option to transfer your registration to another participant. We believe in empowering you with alternatives that ensure your experience remains positive and your investment is well-utilized. If you purchased a protection policy during your registration, please visit https://www.fanshield.com/ to file a claim. Please note that there is a transfer fee of $5, plus any applicable change in registration fee.

What should I do if I see an issue on race day, like a pothole, dangerous sidewalk, or a downed wire?

  • If you notice a non-emergency issue, such as a pothole, a hazardous sidewalk, or a downed wire, please call 3-1-1 to report it to city services.  3-1-1 service requests are directed within 24 hours to the city agency that works to solve your issues.  City agencies respond to requests as quickly as possible. 

What if I suspect a crime or witness a dangerous situation?

  • For suspected crimes or non-urgent safety concerns, contact 3-1-1.

What if it’s an emergency?

  • Please call 9-1-1 for emergencies, such as reporting a crime, fire, or medical emergency or if the situation poses an immediate threat to someone's safety or life.
