Duolingo Helps More Pittsburgh Kids Reach the Start Line Through Movement and Art in New Partnership with P3R

Student-designed artwork to transform Kids Marathon start line in celebration of movement and creativity
PITTSBURGH, PA – A new partnership between Pittsburgh-based Duolingo and P3R is helping more local kids reach the start line on Marathon Weekend while also empowering them to shape it through their own artwork.
As part of its commitment to the neighborhoods surrounding its Pittsburgh headquarters, Duolingo will sponsor eight Kids of STEEL schools. This support will help fund transportation to the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, along with athletic shoes and apparel, physical activity equipment, and healthy snacks and wellness resources—helping reduce barriers and expand access to participation.
“This partnership brings together movement and creative expression in a way that has a real, lasting impact on kids across our region,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “With Duolingo’s support, we’re not only helping more kids get to the start line, but also giving them a chance to tell their story through art.”
At the center of the collaboration is the new “Move Through Art” initiative, which blends wellness and creativity. Participating schools will design custom banners that reflect what movement means to their students. The artwork will be displayed along the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon start line and transform race day into a vibrant, large-scale celebration of student voice and community pride.
More than 11,000 kids are expected to participate in this year’s Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, the largest youth running event in the country. The Kids of STEEL program—P3R’s free, youth fitness initiative—serves more than 350 schools and community organizations across Western Pennsylvania and beyond. By providing a goal-oriented experience through an official race, the program inspires kids and families to build lifelong healthy habits through movement.
