FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk presented by CNX Resources cancelled this year, will return in 2021

PITTSBURGH, PA (July 13, 2020) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pittsburgh International Airport will cancel the 2020 running of the FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk presented by CNX Resources. For four years, families throughout the Pittsburgh area have raced on the runways at PIT, and organizers are already planning for the race to return in 2021 to celebrate the event’s fifth year.

“We are disappointed that we won’t be hosting the event this year,” said Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, which operates PIT. “But the health and safety of our guests, as well as our staff, is always our top priority. We look forward to next year’s event.”

P3R has organized the event since it began in 2016 and has seen the event grow to one of the largest airport races in the country, benefitting the Allegheny County Airport Authority Foundation each year.

“We know this was the best decision for 2020, but we still want to encourage families to get outside and run together,” said P3R CEO, Troy Schooley. “Even though we won’t be able to hold the event this year, P3R is donating $5,000 to the ACAA Foundation. We can’t wait to return in 2021 and raise even more for this worthwhile cause.”

“We have been fortunate enough to take part in this fun and family-friendly event for two years,” said Brian Aiello, Vice President of External Relations and Human Resources of the presenting partner, CNX Resources. “We know that when it returns in 2021 it will be even better than it was before.”
