P3R and Pittsburgh Flag Football League Team Up to Take Youth Activity to the Next Level

Partnership aims to make movement inclusive, fun, and ultra-accessible

PITTSBURGH - P3R has partnered with the Pittsburgh Flag Football League (PFFL) to inspire youth to MOVE in new ways. Through the partnership, P3R plans to help organize, facilitate and promote a Youth Flag Football Clinic and an open Recreational Flag Football Tournament in 2024. P3R recently announced their expanded tagline, “Keeping Pittsburgh Moving” that encourages all types of “movement,” not just running. This partnership shows the commitment to promoting all forms of movement.

“Partnering with an organization dedicated to providing a forum for movement in different ways aligns with our mission of inspiring any and all to MOVE,” said P3R CEO Troy Schooley. “With flag football being an emerging sport in our area, we are excited to make this connection and provide a fun environment to keep people, especially kids, active.”

With flag football not requiring expensive equipment or extended amounts of space, it becomes an accessible sport for all individuals. The partnership will allow youth of all backgrounds to learn the value of not only being on a team, but having fun and staying active.

"We are excited about this opportunity to offer larger-scale flag football events in this region,” said Chris Curd, founder, owner and commissioner of the PFFL. “With the involvement of P3R, we will be able to grow the sport and provide more opportunities for kids to learn and play flag football."

The recent announcement of flag football becoming an Olympic sport in 2028 provides incentive for youth to participate. These events will help develop a foundation in our region at the younger levels and get youth excited about the sport.

The Youth Flag Football Clinics presented by UPMC Health Plan and DICK’s Sporting Goods are scheduled for January 13 & 20, 2024 and will be held at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in the Southside.
