The event will bring together fitness, community, and football, giving participants a unique opportunity to move through the city and be part of one of Pittsburgh’s most exciting weekends.

PITTSBURGH, PA — P3R today announced temporary road closures for the PicksBURGH Draft Day 5K, a one-time run/walk experience taking place during Draft weekend. The event will bring together fitness, community, and football, giving participants a unique opportunity to move through the city and be part of one of Pittsburgh’s most exciting weekends.

The PicksBURGH Draft Day 5K was created to complement the energy of the NFL Draft coming to Pittsburgh, offering both residents and visitors a chance to actively experience the city. Participants from 30 states and four countries are already registered, adding to the vibrant, international atmosphere surrounding the weekend.

Road Closures and Traffic Impacts

To safely accommodate the event, roads will be temporarily closed on race morning:

  • Time: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
  • Location: Portions of the North Shore and Downtown Pittsburgh along the official 5K course

The course will begin near PNC Park, cross into Downtown via the 16th Street Bridge, and finish near Point State Park—placing participants at the center of Draft festivities upon completion.

Roads will reopen on a rolling basis as participants move through each section of the course. Event organizers have worked closely with city officials and public safety partners to minimize disruptions and align with the broader traffic plan already in place for Draft weekend.

Planning Ahead

Motorists and residents are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and review the race route in advance. Participants are encouraged to:

  • Arrive early on race morning
  • Utilize public transportation through Pittsburgh Regional Transit
  • Check parking availability via the PARKPGH app or the Pittsburgh Parking Authority website

While the race itself does not require the OnePass app, individuals planning to attend official Draft activities afterward should review event guidelines in advance.

A Unique Race Experience

Participants will receive a limited-edition event shirt and finisher medal to commemorate the occasion. With a finish line just steps away from the Draft festivities, the event offers a seamless transition from race to celebration.

The PicksBURGH Draft Day 5K is designed to be a fun, accessible, and community-focused event that enhances an already high-energy weekend across the city.
