The 2027 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend is 268 days away, and the journey begins next Wednesday. On August 12th, the annual Launch Day block-party returns outside Mike's Beer Bar to officially kick off marathon registration and celebrate the road ahead. Whether you are a returning marathoner, a first-timer, or just someone who loves the Pittsburgh running community, Launch Day is the place to be. Here is everything you need to know.
When and Where?
Launch Day takes place on Wednesday, August 12th from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at 110 Federal Street outside Mike’s Beer Bar in downtown Pittsburgh. Check-in begins at 5:30 PM and the 5K and 1 Mile kicks off at 6:30 PM.
The Fun Run and the People’s Pace Team
Before the block party hits full stride, lace up for a 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk starting at 6:30 PM. Both routes are free and available to view here ahead of time. The People’s Pace Team will be on-site at the start line to guide you through the run, leading different speed groups so you can run or walk at whatever pace feels right for you.
Giveaways!
Showing up early pays off! The first 250 attendees will receive a free Pittsburgh Marathon running belt. All participants 21 and older receive a free beer courtesy of Michelob Ultra. The first 100 charity runners to visit the Run for a Reason tent receive a free tote bag. On top of that, expect raffles, giveaways from Garmin, 4RUN2, Brooks, and more, plus special appearances from Pittsburgh Marathon partners, a live DJ, and plenty of photo ops throughout the evening.
