Follow the Leader
Objective: To develop imitation, listening, and motor skills, while encouraging creativity and social interaction.
Equipment/Setup
- Outdoor/indoor open space to move
- Optional: props (scarves, toys, etc.)
How to Play: Children line up behind leader and copy their motions as they move around the play area.
Modification Chart
| Level | Modification | Purpose |

| 🟡 0-1 year old | Leader holds or sits with the child and encourages them to watch/copy simple actions (clap, wave, sway). | Visual Tracking, Imitation, Bonding |
| 🟣 1-2 year old | Leader walks short distances, adding simple motions (clapping, raising arms). Toddler attempts to imitate, while moving at their own pace. | Coordination, Following Directions |
| 🟢 2-3 year old | Leader uses a mix of movements (walk, tip toe, crouch, arm motions). Children copy and begin to stay in line. | Body Awareness, Listening, Movement Variety |
| 🟠 3-4 year old | Leader adds more complex patterns (hop, spin, march) and changes speed as children try to copy. | Balance, Timing, Focus |
| 🔴 4-5 year old | Children take turns being the leader, adding creative movements and challenges for the group to follow. | Leadership, Rule Following, Cooperation |
