Festive 5K and 1-Mile courses to take runners through Downtown Pittsburgh ahead of iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade

PITTSBURGH, PA  -  P3R has officially unveiled the course for the inaugural Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash Presented by GNC, set for Saturday, March 15, 2025. This brand-new event will kick off the city’s legendary America’s Grand St. Patrick’s Day Event, offering participants an exciting way to MOVE before the parade festivities begin.

The 5K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will start and finish near the parade route on Boulevard of the Allies, taking participants on a scenic loop through downtown Pittsburgh. This unique course design lets runners experience the electric parade-day atmosphere, and on the 5K course, not just once, but twice! As they make their way through the heart of the city, they’ll feel the energy intensify near the grand finale of one of the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parades—surrounded by cheering crowds, festive music, and an unmistakable spirit of Irish pride.

Course highlights include:

  • A Downtown Showcase: Participants will race through the heart of Pittsburgh’s vibrant streets, passing historic landmarks and parade-day hotspots.

  • A Fast & Fun 5K starting at 8:25 a.m. : The 5K course is flat and fast, perfect for competitive runners chasing a PR and for those simply looking to enjoy the morning at their own pace.

  •  A Family-Friendly 1-Mile Option starting at 8 a.m. : Designed for all ages, the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk encourages families, kids, and casual walkers to join in the excitement.

  • Finish-Line Festivities: Runners will cross the finish line and step right into post-race fun in Market Square, featuring music, entertainment, and plenty of pre-parade excitement.
