Inaugural Giving Tuesday Community 5K Run Unites Run for a Reason Participants for Movement That Makes an Impact

Community aims to raise $1.5 million during the 2026 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend; participants who raise $75 on Giving Tuesday will earn an exclusive hoodie

PITTSBURGH, PA — This Giving Tuesday, runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to come together for the inaugural Giving Tuesday Community 5K Run, a free event designed to celebrate generosity, build community, and inspire support for the causes championed through P3R’s Run for a Reason Charity Program.

On Dec. 2 at 6 a.m., participants will enjoy a morning filled with movement and meaningful activations at P3R headquarters, including:

  • Photo Opportunities: Participants can grab a memorable picture at the iconic Run for a Reason Heart — perfect for social media, fundraising pages, and inspiring others to give.
  • Early Bird Perks: The first 400 runners on site will receive an exclusive beanie.
  • Special Fundraising Incentive: Any charity participant who raises $75 or more on Giving Tuesday will earn an exclusive hoodie featuring the 40+ official charities in the 2026 Run for a Reason program.

The Run for a Reason program continues to be a force for good. In 2025, 4,270 charity runners raised $1.4 million, marking one of the program’s most impactful years yet. Since its launch in 2009, the program has raised more than $18 million for local, national, and global nonprofit organizations. Looking ahead to 2026, P3R aims to inspire even more runners to move for a cause while working toward a record $1.5 million fundraising goal.

“Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we move together with purpose,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “Our charity runners are the heartbeat of this program, and this event gives us a chance to celebrate the impact they make every single year. Together, we can turn this momentum into our most successful fundraising year yet.”
